JULIO GALEOTE
Julio Galeote (Madrid, 1977) works with photography, installation and audio-visual media to explore themes such as the creation of realities through photographic documentations and the construction of sculptural simulacra to be transformed into ambiguous images that create imaginary space.
He holds an MA in Fine Art, Photography from the Royal Collage of Art (London) an MA in Photography from EFTi (Madrid), as well as a degree in Industrial Engineering and has exhibited in institutions such as the Photographer’s Gallery and Christie’s Gallery in London, Círculo de Bellas Artes, Tabacalera, Centro Centro, MACUF, Centro de Arte Alcobendas, Centro Niemeyer, Casa América, Museo Portugués de Fotografía, and in various commercial galleries with solo and group shows.
His work has also been presented in international art fairs like ARCO, MadridPhoto, SWAB, the London Art Fair and festivals such as PhotoEspaña, Encontros da imagen (Portugal), Fotofestiwal (Poland), and the Korean International Photofestival. Residencies he has completed include fellowships at the Spanish Academy in Rome, Art Center South Florida in Miami and La Filature, Mulhouse in France. His awards include the Circuitos de Artes Plásticas de la Comunidad de Madrid, INJUVE, Purificación García Photography contest and FreshFaced+WildEyed of The Photographer’s Gallery London, and has work in both public and private collections.
